Sicktoiz Story

I grew up in a household where it was a routine part of life to build things. Prior to medical school, my father was a machinist at the highly regarded turret lathe manufacturer Jones & Lamson. Our garage had no room for cars because it was full of machinery for wood and metal working. He had an artistic flair and an appreciation for fine craftsmanship. He also instilled a sense of curiosity about the World in me, often quizzing everyone during a car trip about various things seen along the way. “Why after every significant bump in the road, does there seem to be dark region on the pavement?”.

This upbringing of artistry, craftsmanship and curiosity provided a foundation for many of my adventures in life. When I was 11 years old, I built an air cushion vehicle demonstrator for a grade school science fair. It was inspired by an exhibit that I had seen at a German science museum during summer vacation. It was fabricated out of materials from the local hardware store using the machine shop in our garage. I was disqualified because the judges were certain that it could not have been built by an 11-year-old.

Sicktoiz is about designing and fabricating interesting objects that I would love to own but have been unable to find in the market.

The reason for Sicktoiz the company, is the thought that the World might include other individuals that appreciate these carefully designed and finely crafted objects.
